About Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences
The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) is Australia's contemporary museum for applied arts and sciences. The museum manages two iconic Sydney venues, Powerhouse Museum and Sydney Observatory, both with spectacular architectural spaces suitable for a variety of events and corporate incentive activities. Located in the old Ultimo Power Station building adjacent to Darling Harbour, the Powerhouse Museum is the flagship venue of MAAS. Its unique and diverse collection spans science, technology, design and decorative arts, engineering, architecture, health and medicine, fashion and contemporary culture. High on Observatory Hill in the historic Rocks district with a view of the harbour, Sydney Observatory is housed in a beautiful heritage-listed sandstone building. Built in 1858, Sydney Observatory is Australia's oldest observatory and one of the most significant sites in the nation's scientific history. Together, both venues offer vibrant and dynamic meeting places that will spark your creativity with a unique and inspiring combination of venues for special events. During the day, our theatre spaces and boardroom offer privacy for your conference, seminar or business meeting. After hours, our exhibition galleries and public spaces can be transformed to create dramatic backdrops for stunning corporate events.
